EV Repair & Service In Dubai
Electric Cars Still Need a Mechanic. We're the One That Knows How They Work.
Electric cars have fewer moving parts than petrol or diesel vehicles, but they're not maintenance-free. They still have suspension, brakes, steering, cooling systems, tyres, and a 12V battery that wears out. They also have high-voltage components, complex software, and thermal management systems that need specialist knowledge and equipment to work on safely. Most independent workshops in Dubai aren't set up for EVs. Most dealers charge premium rates for routine work.

EV Maintenance Guide
What Maintenance Does an Electric Car Actually Need?
One of the biggest misconceptions about EVs is that they don't need maintenance. They need less than a petrol car, but they're not zero-maintenance. Here's what the typical EV service schedule looks like:
Every 12 Months or 15,000-20,000 km
Every 2 Years or 40,000 km
Every 4-5 Years

Electric Car Repair Facts for UAE Conditions
Do Electric Cars Need Less Maintenance Than Petrol Cars?
Yes, but "less" doesn't mean "none." EVs eliminate oil changes, spark plugs, timing belts, exhaust system repairs, and gearbox service. That removes a significant chunk of what conventional cars need. But EVs still have brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, a 12V battery, a cabin air filter, and a cooling system for the battery pack. Brakes on EVs often last longer because regenerative braking does most of the slowing, but the pads and discs still wear and still need replacing eventually. The 12V battery that powers the car's accessories and computers wears out faster in Dubai's heat than the main high-voltage battery. Tyres on EVs wear faster than on petrol cars because of the extra weight and instant torque. The maintenance bill is lower overall, but it's not zero, and skipping it causes the same problems it does on any car.
Why EV Tyres Wear Faster and Cost More
Electric cars are heavy. A mid-size EV typically weighs 300-500 kg more than an equivalent petrol car because of the battery pack. They also deliver full torque instantly from a standstill, which puts more stress on the tyres during acceleration. Both factors cause tyres to wear faster. EV-specific tyres are designed with reinforced sidewalls to handle the extra weight, lower rolling resistance to preserve range, and compounds optimised for the torque delivery pattern. Fitting standard tyres on an EV means faster wear, reduced range, and potentially less safe handling. We stock and fit EV-rated tyres for all common models.
What Happens to EV Brakes in Dubai's Climate?
EV brakes are an unusual case. Because regenerative braking handles most of the slowing in day-to-day driving, the mechanical brake pads barely get used. This sounds like good news, and it is for pad life, but it creates a different problem: the brake discs can corrode from sitting unused, especially in Dubai's humid coastal air. Salt and moisture build up on the disc surface, causing rust spots and uneven wear. When you do need the mechanical brakes (emergency stops, steep descents, or when regenerative braking is limited at full charge), corroded discs reduce stopping power and cause vibration. Regular inspection catches this early, and occasional deliberate use of the mechanical brakes during normal driving keeps the discs clean.
Can Any Workshop Work on an Electric Car?
Technically, any workshop can replace an EV's cabin filter or rotate its tyres. But for anything involving or near the high-voltage system, the answer is no. High-voltage components in an EV can deliver a lethal shock if handled incorrectly. Proper EV service requires technicians trained in high-voltage safety, insulated tools rated for the voltage, diagnostic equipment that can communicate with the car's battery management system, and knowledge of the isolation and de-energisation procedures specific to each manufacturer. Working without this training and equipment puts the technician at risk and can cause serious damage to the car's electrical systems. This is why we invest in EV-specific training and tooling, and why we're transparent about what we do and don't handle in-house.

How We Perform The Service
Safe Intake and Diagnostics
EVs require specific safety protocols before any work begins. We connect to the car's diagnostic system to read fault codes, check battery health data, and identify what needs attention. For any work near high-voltage components, the system is isolated following manufacturer safety procedures before we touch anything. This step is non-negotiable and it's the main reason most general workshops avoid EV work entirely.
Service or Repair
For scheduled maintenance, we follow the manufacturer's service schedule: brake fluid test or replacement, cabin air filter, coolant check for the battery thermal management system, tyre rotation, and a full inspection of the suspension, steering, brakes, and 12V system. For repairs, we diagnose the specific issue, source the correct parts, and carry out the work using EV-compatible tools and procedures. All torque specs, fluid types, and procedures are followed to the manufacturer's specification.
System Check and Test Drive
After service or repair, we clear any fault codes, re-run the diagnostic scan to confirm everything reads clean, and test drive the car to verify the repair. For brake work, we confirm regenerative braking is functioning correctly alongside the mechanical brakes. You get a full report of what was done, what was checked, and any recommendations for future service.
Handover and Service Record
We walk you through what was done, explain anything that needs monitoring, and provide documentation for your records. Maintaining a proper service history is important for EV resale value, and we make sure every visit is recorded clearly.

Built Around Getting It Right
Trained for High-Voltage Work
Working on an electric car without proper training is dangerous. The high-voltage battery in a typical EV operates at 400V or higher. Our technicians are trained in EV safety protocols, including system isolation, insulated tooling, and emergency procedures. This is the baseline for any workshop that touches EVs, and it's something many independent garages in Dubai don't have.
Independent Rates, Dealer-Level Diagnostics
Authorised dealers charge premium labour rates for EV service, even for routine work like brake pads and cabin filters that's no different from any other car. We use the same diagnostic equipment to read the car's systems, but at independent workshop pricing. You get the same quality of work without the dealer markup.
We Know What's Different and What Isn't
An EV's suspension is a suspension. Its brakes are brakes. Its steering rack is a steering rack. These components work the same way as in any car, and we've been repairing them for over 15 years. What's different is the high-voltage system, the regenerative braking calibration, and the thermal management. We know where the EV-specific knowledge matters and where standard mechanical expertise applies. That combination is what makes us effective.
Parts Sourced Correctly
EVs are heavier than equivalent petrol cars because of the battery pack. This means they need heavier-duty brake components, EV-rated tyres designed for the extra weight and instant torque, and specific coolant for the battery thermal system. We source the correct spec parts for your EV rather than fitting standard components that will wear out faster or perform poorly.
